Just had the output shaft seal replaced at a dealer. Next day while driving at 60-65 mph, for the first time since replacing the seal, I felt a definate vibration in the clutch and shifter. I suspect this might be from the mechanic not replacing the driveshaft in the same position as it was before it was removed to service the seal. I did not have any, and I mean any, vibration prior to this. That is why it was so noticeable. I supposed there is the possibility that something was not completely tightened in reassembling the shaft to the rear end. Does this sound reasonable? I'm taking it back on Monday and they have promised to look at it for me.
Yeah its sounds bout right, it must not be off much if it doesnt vibrate until 60mph. My buddy had a vibration problem on his dodge except you could kinda feel it after just 20mph.
Here are the results of the local dealers investigation. The vibration caused by bad u-joint. Still had a leak from the output shaft seal they put in last week, so they took it apart and determined that it needed a new output flange assy. There was something on the bill I didn't notice until I got home regarding a trans slip yoke repair. The good news was they did not charge me for labor at all since I paid 200. last week for a seal. Plus the service mgr is an old friend of mine and he gave me his personal discount. He saved me oer 60.00 on parts. My cost today for everything was just 109.00. I no longer have any vibration, or slack in the driveline. Everything feels tight. I think they did a good job.
