September 2016 thread

Looks like I actually remembered this time.

I've been thinking long and hard about it but I'll need 2 trucks and 2 trailers. But I'm making 2 trips, 1trick and trailer this round. The other round 1 of each as well to finish the move. Dad will be bringing the rest of my toys when he can make the long weekend to help bring my garage back to glory

Also, ran the ford again, Motorcraft carb is trash. So I went and swapped the new and good parts to the reman carb I have, slapped on truck, leaked fuel out of accelerator pump. Okay, go to change it. But the issue I have is the truck won't idle. It feels like a vacuum leak, but I have all vacuum ports plugged to keep it internal, since I don't have anything vacuum operated. So toss me possible solutions. I have air, I have spark, and I know I have fuel. Idle jets are turned 1.5 out, but still smells like straight gas when holding a higher rpm. Air filter is off, and I'm thinking I might slap it on to see if there's a change.

Got the truck running again. rebuilt the carb, replaced the fuel pump, and she fired right up. Idles smooth as silk. If I can get the video to upload, all you will hear is the alternator bearing squealing. Replaced it, and it has a knock. NAPA is great, called them and said they would have another on Tuesday. Have a great Labor Day weekend.

I replaced the AC condenser and drier in a buddy's truck yesterday and got his AC working again.

I changed the fuel filter on the 79 and got it running again. The radiator started weeping along the top seam I am going to pull it out and get it repaired. The vacuum controller for the heat control is also weeping coolant. I ordered a new fuel level sending unit, front brake pads and heater control valve. I will go ahead and replace all the hoses too.

You go Bob!!!
Everyone else is working on their trucks so I had to get my act together!!

I paid off my screwdrivers made of gold and bought some nice pry bars. I ordered a set of big metric impacts and an impact swivel off of Amazon. I should be good now with all of those but I am like a kid at Christmas when the tool guy rolls in.

What a great day, small family get together, and a family tradition. Low Country Boil. Tomorrow is relaxation time.

I love the toolguy visits, I hate the prices, but you have to have the quality. Snap on has already replaced some stuff for free, and so have others for me and it feels great not having to buy another and make return claims.

cooked a turkey today, took a nap when the girl friend came over, got the truck out on the road and let everyone have a ride in it. Tomorrow breakfast for my dad for his birthday, and put the bed back on the truck. Then done and done.

Everybody been busy, I got the Expoy primer done and one coat of 2k urethane on. Ran out of primer. My primary colors came in. We post pics later.

We are leaving today for Puerto Rico.

We had excitement las night, our neighbors well caught on fire. The landscape timber made a nice bon fire.
