Hi all. It appears I have fuel pouring out of the top of the front gas tank (I only use rear). It happens when operating and shortly after, but once it's been parked for a few minutes, it stops. I have another fuel problem too, with the vapor line that is supposed to carry fuel vapor to the charcoal canister carrying actual liquid fuel. I've posted about that one before, but with no solutions found. I assume they are the same problem, it's just gotten worse. (For the vapor one, I just disconnected the line from the charcoal canister, bypassing the issue and not solving it).
Any ideas what I should look for when I drop the tank(s)? Thanks
I had the fuel coming out of the fuel cap. I replaced front pump first and it ran better for a while. Then replaced rear pump and now runs great. No fuel coming out any more. I'm not sure but some have mentioned it being something with the check valve in the fuel pumps. I had 200,000 miles on my truck so figure they need to be replaced anyways.
Well, I've decided to just delete the front tank. My plan is to cap the front tank evap hose, and cap the two fuel lines. I'm going to either cut the tubing from the hanger assembly and weld them shut so I can connect back to the lines and use the retainer clips, or if Oreillys sells hard line with the bead, buy some 5/16" and 3/8" hard line and weld those shut. That should work, right? TIA
I believe Subford has suggested to cut the ends off a fuel filter. You could crimp them closed then weld or use some other method. Not sure how JB Weld would work.
I posted that without checking or thinking.
The fuel filter has the wrong size tubes on the ends for the pressure line at the fuel tank.
They are the same size and would work for the return line at the fuel tank however.
