i have a 79 f-150 and i cant seem to get fuel to the engine all the time. i know i can put a gas can in the engine bay and run a feeder to the fuel pump and it will pump fuel, and sometimes i can get it to take fuel from the tank. i figured that maybe i was just low on fel and well i just put $40 in it and was able to drive it for like half an hour... i know i didnt suck up all the gas cause its a 300 stock! i know i replaced some of the fuel line but not all of it... im kinda leaning that the fuel pump might be bad and quit working when its warmed up cause the engine thats in it has been sitting for over 2 years. i dont know how long the truck was sitting, i bought it at a gas station for next to nothing. does anyone have any ideas on what might be a comon problem?
Replace ALL the rubber lines. Clean the rust out of the tank and out of the fuel strainer. Flush the fuel lines. Replace the fuel filter. Check the pump output pressure and volume. Make sure the fuel tank vent system is clear and operational. Clean the rust and corrosion out of the carb.
That will do it. I hate people who can't keep their hands of other people's gas. I was gonna suggest a new fuel pump, until I read that you solved the problem
Personally, I feel like my odd's are better with a .45 against a couple individuals than with fists. I am a baseball bat man myself, possibly a golf club, hockey stick, or large pipe wrench though.
