First off, welcome to the FTE
And yes that mileage sounds right. I'm driving a 2013 Super Crew 4x4 with the Coyote in it, and have seen over 22mpg cruising around 70 mph.
I have a 2013 Screw with 5.0 and I live in Central Texas, so the AC stays on. Mileage will depend a lot and change with tires/wheels. Mine came with 20" wheels and soccer mom tires. I traded for 18" wheeels and light truck tires with very similar diameter. Mileage on highway went from 20mpg down to 18 mpg.
I do tow a boat and go offroad so I feel I needed the more aggressive tread of the tires. The new tires weighed over 5lbs more each, so if there is an engineer out there they can explain why it takes a little more to keep the heavier tires moving, etc.
Sounds like your mileage is about right.
Ford spends a lot of engineering effort to meet the Federal Gov't mileage demands. So soon as you change anything from stock, it will most likely cause a change somewhere else like mileage.
Pictures please? Sounds like a nice truck!
That mileage is better than I'm getting out of my 3.7. But then it sounds as if you live in a much flatter region of the country than I do. On the highway, with AC, I can do high teens. I also run a pretty aggressive tire tread now too. That's got a lot to do with it. I have my Scanguage II programmed to display average mpg, and I don't know that I've ever seen it break 20. I very rarely use the Instant mpg readout in the dash display of the truck.
