Universal Joint help

I was putting my drive shaft in my 49 F3 and noticed that the old universal joint feels like it has a little grit in the bearings. I figure this is the time to do it. I am trying to determine which one to buy. My truck has a two piece drive shaft linking a 4 speed to a Dana 60 from sometime in the 70s (I think). How universal are these things. If not how are they sized and how do I know what I have?

1. Remove the U joint, carry it into a good NAPA store, lay it on the counter and ask the oldest guy there to find a replacement. Easy way.
2. Remove u joint, measure cup diameters and length of cross yoke assembly and order u joint from charts.

Another alternative...
I hate U-joint work, and those guys make it look so easy. Usually get a call that it's done just as I get back home.

I do like Ross's idea but it's already out so moving the truck has become difficult.

1948/52 F2/F3:

B6TZ-4635-A .. #1310 U-Joint (replaced by C3AZ-4635-E - same as 1968 Mustang 289 front u-joint).
