I what to know the towing capacity is trailer hitch, bumper pull, and fifth wheel. One truck is a 1991 f250 regular cab manual transmission 4x4 long bed 7.3 diesel, 1991 f350 supercab auto transmission 4x4 regular bed 7.5 gas, 1996 f350 dually 2wd crew cab long bed 7.3 diesel, 1997 f250 regular cab manual transmission 4x4 7.3 diesel long as, 1997 f350 dually 4x4 (what they put down and showed) supercab manaul transmission long bed 7.5 gas, and a 2000 f350 dually 4x4 supercab long bed 7.3 diesel.
Right from the owners manual dated JUNE 1989. Yes manual are rated less, at least as recommended from Ford, and yes there is no absolute trailer weight rating, ONLY a maximum combined weight rating, actual trailer weight rating is dependent on truck weight - IE load in truck, wither reg cab, extended or crew and if 2wd or 4wd. A crew cab 4wd with PASSANGERS will tow the LEAST.
Nice thing about the diesel is you do not punish yourself in the GCWR by choosing a manual tranny, only your shoulder and knee/ankle will suffer.......
As a long term CDL holder who has had one surgery from manual transmissions and there repetitive mindless movements better suited to a automaton, I can speak from authority on sucky medium duty manuals with there totally un ergonomic long shift throws coupled with overy long clutch throws!
