Depending on what your goals are for the truck, you COULD rig the front mount temporarily.

I looked it over pretty well before I bought it, all the usual suspects were there. This truck never saw the inside of a garage so I knew there would be rust issues. One side of the radiator support has rust, it may be repairable. The inner fenders by both hood hinges have rust at the top of them. I thought I might use the truck for donor parts for a 71 short bed I have. A guy I go to church with has a 67 cab that looks very solid, it will probably go on the 71.
The truck runs and drives, I am going to get the brakes working right, tune it and drive it for a while and see what I ultimately want to do with it. I might just keep it around. Thanks for all the help and advise.

Also check for rust above the windshield and drip rails. I think a different cab is in your near future. Among other differences, the heater controls are totally different than your current set up.

Heater / AC Controls

The '67 pickup heater controls (pictured above right) were the pull-cable style.
New 1968 safety regulations required a redesign of the controls for the '68 and later models (pictured middle right).
'68-up trucks equipped with the true factory-installed air-conditioning/heater assembly had the slider controls to operate both (lower right).

The cab and drip rails look good on both trucks, no bubbling. I am thinking of getting the cab on the 72 blasted with dustless blasting to see what kind of shape it is in. I don't want to see the surface rust turn into something more. I am thinking I'll repair the 72 cab. It needs cab corners, cab mounts, floor pans and their supports. The old Ranger is kinda growing on me, I am thinking of an alternative for the wood grain on the trim and tailgate. Maybe something matte and match it to some custom rims.

The 71 shortbed is a different story, definitely need a different cab there but I would like to stick to a 71 cab. The only problem is the 67 cab is rust free and the price is right, free.
