Here is some additional food for thought while you think about the excellent advice given to you above...
Did Jody advise you to conduct the above tests in order to determine whether the HPOP is dying or not? If not, then why not?
Have you conducted any of the tests that were recommended? If not, Jody's opinion is exactly that, "an opinion", which is no better or worse than the free ones you have received from Pikachu and Tugly et al.
The difference is, the guys here on FTE are trying to save you money by not enticing you to send in a part that may not be broken. If you simply want a T500 which Jody sells then that changes everything. Many times a T500 is nice but is not necessary. However, what are you going to do if you get a T500 and it does not solve the problem? You are out about $500 and 7-10 days of down time with your truck.
Most of us do our testing first....
If the top most o-rings on the injector are blown and the bottoms ones aren't then there will not be oil in the fuel and therefore the fuel filter will be clean. The "Cody" test will determine this. The bottom ones could still be weak but the top ones bleed off the pressure before it manifests in the fuel bowl.
I agree with everything you said. At this point I'm gonna test some stuff tonight and if I can't get it. I will be sending it to a shop that works on lots of 7.3 you tell any mechanic that it's a van and their tone changes quick 😳
We all deserve a little good luck now and then. Glad it worked for you. Thanks for following up and letting us know the fix
Thanks.
Was so frustrated that I went to the Mercedes dealership yesterday and test drove a 2016 sprinter. Was about to buy it but figured I'd give my van one more shot. This van has been so good to me just can't give up on it.
