I cannot locate where you plug in the code reader on my 1987 E250 van, Can anyone point out the location?
The van runs good but it hunts at idle and stalls when cold.
There is no OBDII port on that van. There should be a "EEC TEST" harness on the fender well under the hood, you have to jumper two of the lugs, turn on the key and read the sequence of CEL flashes(or use a test light), then look it up to decode. Watch the video below to learn more. They show a "test key" but you can just use a piece of wire to jumper the lugs.
Thanks for the info, after watching the video I ordered an Equus #3145 Ford digital code reader from Amazon.com for $21.99 (Good Price) However if you want the 6 ft extension cord so you can sit in the van and read the codes from inside it's an additional $24.99, Dang cord cost more than the code reader!
