On my 2002 F250, when I step on the parking brake, it makes a clacking noise and doesn't really want to stay in place. It seems if you wiggle it, it will pop back out yet the spring doesn't seem to be working.
I'm pretty sure I need a new assembly which also looks like it has a spot for the hood latch cable. Before I order it, I just wanted to make sure the fix wasn't a $.99 spring or something simple like that (and yes, I did search before posting).
Thanks
You might want to get on the floor with a good flashlight and
have someone push the peddle down while you watch what is
going on. The device has been known to have various types failures.
A friend of mine split the cam that the cable runs up on to
put tension on the cable. His was a 2003.
If yours is not staying locked once you apply it you might want
to think about new that way all the parts are up to snuff and
no surprise failures waiting for just the nasty "right" time to happen.
