4X4 low tough to engage
4X4 low tough to engage
I recently got a 2004 F-250 XL with 106k miles on it and I've found that the 4x4 in general is hard to engage. I'm not sure if I'm just doing it wrong or there's something wrong with the truck. I can manage to muscle it into 4 high but 4 low is tough. I thought I got it into it once but I wasn't quite sure. Is there a light that comes on just for low? What could be causing this problem?

yes there should be a light for low gear. and to put it in low the trans must be in neutral with the truck on flat ground, with foot off brake.
if there is any load at all on the transfer case, it will not go into low.
