Looking to replace my Standard Cab Round speedometer instrument cluster, looking at the face of the cluster it shows GEN, which I assume is correct for 1961 thru 1964. Not sure if there would be issues with the other instruments if the cluster were to be used for the 65-66 application, it be a generator vs alternator??
Shouldn't be an issue since most of the other gauges will be similar in operating range. They all use the little 5-volt regulator for power.
I don't know all the sending unit resistances, but at the very least you could swap the sending units to match the gauge, if they are different. ND would probably be able to say if there were different part numbers for sending units between the early trucks and the post-generator alternator trucks.
Obviously GEN and ALT are just labels in front of light bulbs. I once added an ALT transparency to an earlier gauge to apply to a generator to alternator conversion that was done.
Greatly appreciate the info!! Does make sense, the instrument voltage is regulated 0-10 volts thru the CVU. Imagine depending upon type sensor the application can be specific, or span a number of years?
