1995 xlt Ranger shift cable

1995 xlt Ranger shift cable
I need a schematic of the shift cable from the column down to the transmission. My cable broke and I can only shift it under the truck. Tow truck guy showed me how. So at least I can move it around the yard.
When I looked up the parts I might need. They call it a Selector Lever Cable Assembly. It comes with the shift tube a bushing and a clamp.
I have only had this truck for a couple of months. We worked thru fixing the overdrive short in the column. The shifter has always been stiff and clunky to move. Tow truck driver said the cable was too close to the exhaust and burned. So I need to know if there is someway to keep the cable from burning again. I also want to know what bushings I might need to replace in the column. I am having trouble locating what the column shifter is made of.
The mechanic I have is good/cheap for what he does but he charges to much for parts. So I price shop for parts. Can you please help me find what I need? I Think the trani is either a 4E44E or 4R56E
