9004 to a 9007 bulb

Can i put a 9007 bulb in my 92' ranger? i looked at my bulbs i have in now and they are 9004's. but the wiring harnesses look the same. will they work? or damage anything?

im just wondering because i got sent the wrong bulbs on ebay and now have a extra pair of 9007 bulbs.

Thanks again.

Hey 92'RangerBoy and welcome to FTE!
I've heard conflicting stories. Some guys have experienced the lights only operating on low beam.
Some have't noticed an increase of light out-put.
Some say, even though they look the same, they don't fit the socket properly.
The really bad news, is that unless you buy them from a Wal-Mart, K-Mart etc, most auto parts outlets won't let you return electrical parts, even if they don't fit properly. You may want to check them out first at one of the "Marts"!
Talk with you guys later....

A 1157 and a 1156 are "basically" the same!
This does not however mean that they will properly interchange and function as they should.
