Filled up the X last night , 30 gallons and I still had 1/4 tank left.
I ran the numbers and it looks like im getting 10.5 MPG around town.
I have the 6.0 , there is a 6 inch lift on the truck.
The SCT tuner is set to "street" tune and I really dont get on the throttle too much in town.
I hear some folks getting closer to 15 around town , some even close to 20 mpg on the highway.
Any suggestions or ideas on improving the mileage?
Will setting the tuner for a more aggressive tune help or hinder ?
Thanks guys.
Back when I had a 6ohno it got horrible mileage also which irked me to no end because I had switched from a 7.3
11mpg doesn't surprise me.
14 -15 might be doable on a road trip going the speed limit
16-17 is probably the lie o meter lulling owners sensibilities
18-20 you'll need more then a grain of salt

That is pretty bad. That is close to what I get towing around the 13500lb toy hauler.
Double check your math and try adding some diesel additive into a tank of fuel. I alternate between diesel kleen and 2 stroke marine oil every other fill up. It may not do a damn thing to help but I do have 324k miles and get 50% better fuel mileage than what you're seeing....just saying.

Its all how you drive it and what you have on it. Before the rack, mirrors and tires I was seeing 22mpg on cross country trips. Now I am around 18mpg when just highway and roughly 15-16 with mixed driving.
Thanks everyone. I just set the SCT programmer to Performance, just to see if there is any changes.
The manual states it for economy and racing. I dont see how those two things can exist at the same time...
Ant thing to watch out for with the more aggressive tune?
well , just took it out for a quick run - WOW!
this thing has some power now!
Performance tune on the SCT is night and day different from the street tune.
and the scan gauge is telling me im at 15.5 mpg! its playing with my emotions

See my previous post....
Until you correct for tire size neither the vehicle computer or the SCT computer knows how many times the tire is revolving or your true speed or mileage.
I run stanadyne in every tank. When I forget I see a small drop in mpg and idle suffers a bit. Won't hurt to run some as stated above. A ficm tune is said to add some mpg. Someone that had one should chime in.
I wish I could get 15 to 16mpg.

FICM tunes do indeed help most folks. Tuning options are listed at PHP Tunes. We can also set you up with a loaner tuner to eliminate downtime at Gryphon Loaner FICM Tuner.
