Ok. I changed that still will not connect to ECM.Only light that comes on it the power light. I took it to my buddy that has scanned my truck before when the hpop went out. And his scanner will not connect to ECM neither. No matter what I try can get any scanner go connect to the ECM. Today I started and it ran great and shifted great until this afternoon then back to the same crap

Have you tried connecting with your device, or your buddy's, when the truck is NOT having its running/shifting problems? Just a theory, but _maybe_ whatever is causing the truck to run and shift poorly is also causing an issue with connecting to it. So knock wood that it goes back to running right and try to connect again then. If there were codes stored, you should still be able to obtain them.

If it is something like this, the main connector to the PCM would be a place to look; make sure it's tight and dry.

Will give it a try if it ever goes back running and shifting right. Just for kicks I called a Ford dealer and talk to a guy in service department. Told him what my truck was doing and told him the year of my truck . He said oh ok 97's are bad at having computer problems. And said it will still run but not run right. So I make get one once I get some money saved up.

Have you checked to see if you have a performance chip on the PCM?
