Seems like I have an issue every other week of driving my truck. Today I arrived at work and attempted to shift into park but it wouldn't go. I went to tighten the bolts and after tightening it still wouldn't work. So I tried tightening them again and the top of the top bolt broke off. So I took a nut and a lock washer and put it on the other side (was very hard) and got it tightened best I can. It looks tightened pretty good but I still can't shift into park. Maybe the bushing for that piece are bad? I have no clue where to go from here or what I need or even if putting a nut on the bolt works. Any ideas?
Under the truck where the cable goes to the trans linkage there is a 2 piece plastic clip that you can adjust. BUT it needs to be adjusted to specs with the trans range thingy ( the thing that has wires going to it..)
I do not recall specs on setting that but I had a problem once of it not going into park and it was the clip had come loose.
where that aluminum piece that the two torx bolts go into, is it okay that i have the one held in by a nut or should i replace that for the potential problem??
Also when the problem of not being able to shift into park started, also the whole shift gauge thing where it tells you what gear you are in got all screwed up. Reverse is now between reverse and park, maybe my linkage got messed up?
