Ok so Charlee has been awesome since the last round of upgrades... And when an intercooler setup crossed my path at an awesome price, I rearranged finances (didn't go to the bar for a week haha) and snagged a set of sd 7.3 pipes, e99 spyder, and a 6.0 intercooler.
So here are my questions...
1. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to modify the pipes and I'm ok with that. Any special welding technique or can I mig them together?
2. How hot does the hot side get? I would like to powder coat them pc is heat sensitive
3. Is there any way to clean the inside of the intercooler? It is used and had some oil and dust residue in the inlet/outlet and I really don't want to dust my turbo
4. I haven't taken them off but I'm assuming that you can get rid of all the crap on the spyder?
Yes, all that stuff on the front of the spyder has to come off to fit behind the fuel bowl.If I remember right, I used 3/8 pipe plug in the larger holes, and tapped bolt threads into the hose barb hole and put a bolt there.
Edit: I see you have E fuel, so you could probably get by leaving it the way it is, although I would remove it myself.
I don't remember for sure, but it seems like I had to cut threads where the air intake heater was, the hose barb is pressed in, that was pulled and threads were tapped in for a machine screw. The sensor hole already had threads, so a plug was added there.
