once they over heat there is no telling what damage has been done inside

could be puking fuel or not squirting enough

also heat treated parts can be weak and break off

Yeah I figured. I'll give him a call tomorrow.

Operation "motor swap/ic install/turbo rebuild/injector refresh/sas rsk" engage!

Sounds familiar. For me it was the clutch that drove all the upgrades.

I'm actually worried about that myself. The coolant is about an inch or two low. No water on dipstick yet

If it were cups you will have diesel in coolant not the other way around.

...so if that were the case, my coolant level would have gone up not down. I guess I have a coolant leak I haven't found

Wow!

That has me wantin to pull my valve covers as soon as I get home from this trip and have a look.

Did your fuel filter give any indication that you had loose injectors?

Are we not using a torque wrench on these!?;?!? I'm not worried because I know they are to spec...

I didn't own a torque wrench at the time. I should have popped the vcs off to verify when it finally came in but I didn't and now here I am lol

I didn't cut my fuel filter open to check it when I changed it... But even if I had, it would have been pretty filthy from the front tank before I cleaned it.

That's a hard expensive mistake to admit.

Pressurize the coolant system while you have injectors out and check for coolant weeping in the cups

Good call. I'll do that.

And I will always admit my mistakes. No sense blaming it on anyone else and giving them a bad reputation.

But everyone who is reading this please know... Even if you think it is tight enough, if you didn't use a torque wrench, you don't actually know and you could be getting some injectors with 10k miles rebuilt... again.
