Just curious if anybody here has ever upgraded to heavy gauge wire from the braided and small gauge ground wires that came from the factory on our trucks?
Good idea, the auto manufacturers treat copper as a precious metal, the cables are adequate when new but just barely, with the road grime and salt brine and atmospheric pollution, it doesn't take that long to cause trouble. Neglected grounds and connections cause LOTS of problems. They even used dissimilar metals in the past in some battery cables and between ground connections. Better cables, better connections better routing, means longer lived alternators and voltage regulators, and batteries.

Like to hear your experiences with it.
Our OBS and Brick Nose PU trucks do not use the so called braided ground strap (cable or wire) for the electrical system.
I replaced all my primary wiring with some fine strand heavy gauge high end wire I had left from the A/V install in my other car. All ends are soldered and sealed with hi temp silicone tape.
