What is the oil pressure reading at cruise speeds? Alternatively, pull the valve covers and see if the top end is getting any oil. Are the rockers blued from heat? Are the pushrods plugged up? Report back and let us know.

What the guys are alluding to is that the oiling system on the 335 series engines leaves a lot to be desired. As shown here (Oiling System Mod's - ???Gary's Garagemahal) the driver's side lifters are the last thing to get oil, and #5 is dead last. Couple that with the low oil pressure these engines have and it isn't unusual to have problems with the valve train. Thicker oil will raise the oil pressure a bit, but if the damage has already been done it won't fix it.
