Is there a Washington State FTE Chapter or folks out there? There is an Oak Harbor auto show this weekend. I'm hoping to perhaps check out some 67-72 F100s. Possibly get some tips on building from the the block up a 390 and adding power steering to my 68.
My '69 F100 Ranger had manual steering when I bought it. I added a '78 F150 Saginaw PS gear box/pitman arm, '78 F150 tilt column, '77 front discs/suspension, front sway bar from a '78 F250 and a Ford C-2 PS pump, brackets and pulleys from an '82 F100 300 inline six that I installed on my stock 240.
The FE was out of production before the Ford C-2 PS pumps came out in '78 so, you would need a '67-76 Thompson PS pump and associated hardware if you have an FE engine.
You don't have to have a tilt column to install PS with a Saginaw PS gear box. You just need a shorter steering column that's compatible with the Saginaw box, along with the firewall seal and the shorter metal column support bracket that mounts to the engine side of the firewall.
