Swamps 175/0 (stock nozzles) & Van Turbo on the F-250 (350 HP, 692TQ)
Full Force 160/80's & Borg Warner S366 Turbo on the Excursion
Them injectors seem small. But Justin talked some good sense into me and I will be more than happy in the 450 area . How does the 366 spin up compared to a stock Gtp
500 HP doesn't conjure up adjectives like "safe" and "reliable". If you have your heart set on 500 HP, factor in $15K - $20K to get every part where they play nice with each other - including the drivetrain. Joe (Gaugepro) has a lot of useful input on reaching for the big 5, since he's shoveled a few engines through his truck with that much oomph. Based on all that I've learned here and with my own failures, I'd wager 400 HP is a line in the sand with the 7.3L - you cross over that at your own peril. 400 HP is a lot more goop than one would expect, because you have to factor in how the HP number is calculated. I get 400 HP at about 3000-3200 RPM, not 5000 or 6000 RPM. Acceleration is a matter of torque - plain and simple. Once you chase a torque number, you'll find yourself on a whole different planet if you come from the orb named Gasser. 800 ft/lbs of torque is a tire lathe, where 1000 ft/lbs of torque can turn some metal components into Twizzlers. Just "food" for thought.
This right here is what I haven't realized the tourqe that comes with 500hp . My truck is a 2000 and it is 2016 . That's 16 years of more than likely daily movement of all moving metal. I can hardly remember 2000 and I'm 27 lol . I'm honestly amazed these old trucks are still churning . It is amazing. But I've wizened up a little after chatting with Justin. I will be more than satisfied with the 400-430-450hp margin. I'm not made of money. I think if I haven't put as much time , sweat , blood and money into mine already I would have left her with exhaust and intake and a tuner and financed a 6.4-6.7 . Heck I still may buy a 6.4 or 7 . Not until I finish my 2000 though. I'm enjoying myself and learning a lot of useful information. Thank you all .
Well not to sound crass or anything but with previous responses that I have read in your other posts (the following is how I perceive things) especially you just ignoring what others are saying and moving onto the "next money drop" with out even a hint of acknowledgement to the others is what gets us "veterans" in that mood, just slow down and heed what we are saying, we usually will give you the best info to make the numbers you want, get the parts once and be done…
As for the turbu I personally would put a 38R (IIRC) in and just leave it all installed, if you do your mods right there should be absolutely NO reason to "uninstall" your turbo to install the "towing turbo" my current turbo has at least 449,800 miles on it and it does plenty for me and I turn and burn enigma about 150+ miles a day round trip is closer to 300 I think (3 complete round trips from Lexington Ky to Cincinati OH and back not factoring in the to and from work/home parts all I plan to do is step from what I have now to the 38R and that should be able to handle what I want …
Yes if I want to I could easily make enigma hit the big 5 ( Hell I could probably make it a bit higher than the big five if I really absolutely wanted to ), however with my plans I am more than happy to hit the big three and leave it there hp is not really something These engines are known for, diesels in general are torquey engines hence why there are used in a lot of applications such as towing heavy loads , name one 18 wheeler truck that has a gas engine, but again this topic is not about that it's about helping you and reliably achieve your goal

I just talking out of my as sometimes. But I have a thrust bearing 38r right now 360 bearings brand new turbo and bellowed up pipes. Having EGT issues I think it's tune related. Fixin to get some DP tunes and get away from TS stock tunes. What is your current setup?
Check out this gem . Replaced it with a billet RCI unit and new gates rad hoses. You think I need a new water pump ?

Bone stock (as far as I know) on this truck, I'm planing on the 38R and (IIRC) the 360 bearing, which should help wake him up plus maybe bigger injectors and the 4" turbo back exhaust with PHP Hydra, and enigma should really wake up
Hell if you have the $$$$ to burn as it sounds like, why not send me your 38R (if you got one) and buy what you want lol!
Them injectors seem small. .............................................
The 175/0's might seem that way on paper but they added a good 50 HP from the 305HP dyno with stock injectors & chip setup I had prior. She's been this way now for 10 years and mostly used for towing - so that's all she needs.........
the S366 spools very quick with the 160/80's, Tony's tunes. It's a fun daily driver and will roll smoothly through the fields at the hunting lodge at 60-70 mph. I have to put it in the 50 mph Valet Tune when the kids use it.......

I have a 360 thrust bearings 38r I built. It has a banks 1.00ar quick spool (what banks calls it) turbine housing that's been machined out for the bigger 70mm turbine shaft . Brass 360 thrust bearings gtp38r compressor housings and back plate big head wastegate and 68x88x94mm billet compressor wheel . I bought everything peice by peice and built it myself. Oh and high flow outlet ebp delete pedestle. As much as I spent on it I should have just bought the KC38r . But the kc it has been noted to have lower backpressure

Sounds like a fun rig . That's a good towing setup it seems . Good looking rig too . I need paint badly. Put a new bed on her a couple months ago so she is two tone right now:/
