I had a blast this weekend with you guys.
Truck is unloaded, and still some of it on the back deck. Things that need to be brought in the house are in, everything else can wait until tomorrow.

Me too Bob. It was great getting to meet all you guys that had the opportunity to come out. The food was great, the fire was nice, and the company was 2nd to none. We laughed and carried on into the wee hours and never even heard a whisper from the grounds' host. I'm already looking forward to the next fling!
As for the fishing, well it was my first time on the lake, pretty much just test fired on Friday, looked around mostly, but no fish. Saturday we got out on the water around 9ish, put the boat in the water and my fish finder decided it wasn't going to work. Checked the connections, fuse, etc, just couldn't get it to come on, all day. Of course today I went to try it out again with a new fuse in hand and it worked without doing anything, WTF? So basically Saturday we fished blind, didn't cover a lot of water, just spent a few hours floating around, buying minnows and beer at the store on the other side of the lake, and we did manage a few bream on the minnows, but nothing else.
First and foremost, Our sincere heartfelt sympathies for James and Kim and family. We all continue to keep your Father in Law in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy and healthy recovery.
That being said,
Everything and anything that happened this weekend was James' fault. It has been voted on and the results are as follows.
James is our Chapter President.
In James absence, We, (The Group) were in desperate need of our President's Leadership and Guidance. So we all voted to blame James because of the standing rule of, if you are not there to defend yourself then you get the blame.
Seriously, We all thought if the Fall Fling was half as fun as the Spring Fling was, It would be great. I believe we passed all expectations. The vittles were well prepared and delicious. Bob worked all day, in the sweltering heat (75 degree) and made a Gumbo that was awesome, and worked diligently all day with the smoker living up to his legend on a 10lb pork shoulder Josh brought for the feast.
Bob's Beans and Matt's Tatters turned out to be a better mix than Reese's peanut butter and chocolate. True brotherhood and trust were there and not one person got a sharpie set of eyebrows if they dozed off, or it may have been a fear of being shot, but who knows. I think I was promoted to refreshments coordinator. Dusty made it there reasonably early Saturday morning and he brought a bowl of Brownies that had to be made by Angels, I nick-named them, Taste-bud Explosion Brownies. If you had a craving for a sweet snack those Brownies fixed that right up, Amazing. Matt's son was one of the coolest young men I have ever met. That young man had all of us impressed or laughing in stitches at will. He also showed a squirrel who was boss that had us cheering him on. What a great weekend spent with family. It was great to meet Matt and his son, and Todd. We missed James, Tony, John and Larry. But a Spring Fling is already in the making. I had a great time guys and hope we all get the chance to do it again soon.
I think I was promoted to refreshments coordinator.(Willie).
You are without a doubt drink coordinator
I'm really glad I didn't wake up with some art work drawn on me. (I'm the one who blacked out, I mean fell asleep). I even had to do a check in the mirror of the truck. I was sure that I had been tagged.
Besides forgetting half the stuff I meant to bring. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it) things worked out pretty good.
Now I will also whole heartedly agree with ***** being the refreshments coordinator, and as long as I can head to the range or hit the trails, i don't mind someone else running the smoker.
It was definitely a great time, Matt let me know what we shot off at the range, and I'll pick up a few boxes to replenish the supply for the next time.

I'm sorry, but I can't do that. Everybody chipped in so we all could have a good time, call it a contribution to fun, or even better, to freedom. I'm sure it'll get paid back one way or another some day, some how.
