Your oil cooler could take longer to climb out of 15* spec but if it cant cool its toast IMO
You can argue all you want, but that's the official latest and greatest from the service manual. At least it's more recent than TSB 09-8-3, which is where the 15* spec came from.

The temperature difference is measured after driving 15 minutes at the specified speed after a cold soak? I thought it was, do the test after hot soaking the truck, after 20 minutes of driving?

Wouldn't the spread be different doing with a cold soak depending on ambient temperature and seasonal changes?

The point seems to be to cut through the BS of WOT/flat ground vs tailwind vs unicorns pulling the traces; if the difference goes over 10*f unloaded at 65mph there's obviously an issue, so mitigate it.

(cue stories of people running at 50* differences for 17 years and all is well)
