New 5.4 motor now throwing P0053 code

continued challenges with my truck. last month I had a new reman. 5.4 put in my truck that had low bearing tolerance. got the truck back and within 20 minutes it threw the code. (the truck runs fine) I changed the Bank 1 Sensor 1, reset the code and truck ran fine no check engine until about an hour of driving. the check engine light on again. I have checked for vacuum leaks and don't find any, all wires from sensor to harness look good. during the engine swap I installed all new plugs and COP's, new pulleys, throttle body, MAF, both exhaust manifolds, and fuel filter. looking for any ideas. The check engine light did not come on prior to engine swap.

That has all the characteristics of a loose connection or damaged wire to the O2 sensor on bank 1. Could have easily been chaffed / smashed swapping in the reman. Do you have / can you get an engine performance wiring diagram for your 2007?

My diagram is for 2004 through 2006, but I would almost bet there likely identical - but it certainly would be worth verifying if you can.

On my documentation, Pin 2 on both upstream O2 sensor harnesses are RED/YEL - and are Power sourced to the sensor Heater element. It is common to a _bunch_ of other sensors and stuff (Ie CPS, Charge Motion Control, O2 Sensor bank 2, etc) so it's probably not the problem unless the plug connection AT Pin 2 of the O2 Sensor is flaky.

It looks like Pin 1 of Bank 1 O2 sensor harness is RED/WHt - and goes to Pin 69 of the Center Plug on the PCM. When key is on, the PCM pulls that wire to ground to run the O2 Sensor's Heater element. A bad connection there (Or a defective PCM solid state circuit) on that pin - or damaged (open or short) wire in the harness between there and the O2 sensor - would result in a P0053 code. (Or of course a bad heater element except you already replaced the O2 sensor).

BTW - if your wiring is the same as my diagram, Pin 70 (YEL/BLU) at the PCM center Plug is the corresponding control wire for Bank 2 O2 Sensor Heater element at its (PIN 1). Perhaps you could use it for reference testing.

Good luck. Looks like you have got it wound down to the last pissy little problems for a good long trouble free run.
