The P183B code is defined as "4-Wheel Drive Clutch Coil Return Circuit Open."

Per the factory service manual, the following are possible causes:
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]

Ron,
Thanks for the info.
That seems like its a lot of possibilities

Explorer runs alright at 110k. Hard downshift when coming off the highway only when the ac is on. I figure thats from increased rpm for the ac, making the transmission line pressure a bit higher. Dont think its transfer case related.

Wrench light is still random at this point. There are no other codes in the car. Just trying to figure it out before transfer case blows up or decides to go to 4wd on a dry highway.

I have an 03' f250 6.0 that just lost power the other day while I was driving down the freeway, like my gas line just came unpluuged, I was pushing on the gas, but had no pedal all the sudden.I had power to everything and it was turning over, but not starting. I changed my fuel pump, still won't start. Tried and checked some things then ended up taking to the shop to have it scanned and I got back these codes: p0672, p0683, p1378, p2290, p2291, p0403, p1378, p0528. They said I needed a new PCM so I replaced that, still wont start. I'm changing my ICP sensor tomorrow and hope that's it . Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you
