I am going down to a drive event in Anaheim next Thursday and then ordering my truck on Friday. It will be an F350 in either Platinum or King Ranch. When I do the build on line, there is about $1500 difference between the two when equipped comparably.
Is there something that I am missing for the price difference or is just for the nameplate?

Platinum is higher. The main difference that I know of it that the Platinum has LED headlights.
Being a farmer/rancher and living in Texas I went with the King Ranch.
I had both vehicles pretty much equal, including LED's. I couldn't find anything different for the extra $ for the platinum. When you get to $78k for the truck $1500 is not a deal breaker either way so I'll let my impressions make the final decision.
When I priced them, with everything on the KR that the Platinum has (including the chrome package), the KR was actually a little more expensive. You should look at the KR in the 2016 F150 before you go down that path. Personally, I really dislike it - I love my 2009 king ranch though.

I always thought your username was for short $2009 killer rimz.
When i bought my 2015 KR....the King Ranch cost about $1500 more than the Platinum too.
Not sure why though.
I looked at tons of them online and the window sticker price was always higher for an equally equipped King Ranch over the Platinum.
Even though the Plat came with a heated steering wheel....which the KR didn't have.
But i still went with the KR as i'm a farm boy....this is my 3rd KR...still love em : )
Although i like the old heavy castano leather seats better than the new ones.
The Platinum HAS to be priced higher....because the pecking order on the website is designed to market it that way. You can't put the KR as last on the page an try to tout the Platinum as your "premo" truck offered. It's really as simple as that. Same with the Expeditions and Explorers. Every trim level is Base..Plus Next. Base Plus Next Next....Base plus next next next. The lighted door sills alone...make the Platinum "better" then the King Ranch....I joke...but in all seriousness...they do.
On ordering mine back on Jan 6th, the Platinum is Fords flagship Super Duty trim level.
King Ranch's are very nice too, just not quite as "fancy" and you notice this immediately upon entering the Platinum with the LED lit up sill/floor plate.
