I have a 2015 F150 XLT with 5.0 V8
It is a certified pre owned vehicle with 17k
When I first start it I hear one of the two belts clicking similar to a rock in a tire then it goes away. I want to order two new Continental or Gator Back Belts for it which seem to cross reference correctly on Amazon and claim they fit.
My question is, I do not have a belt diagram anywhere under the hood. I have looked all over the net and can't seem to come up with one. Anyone help? maybe part numbers, are there two tension pulleys? Tricks, warnings ,etc...
Thanks in advance!
Belt wearing out in 17,000 miles isn't normal. And your truck is fully under warranty, so why wouldn't you take it to your dealer and let them figure it out? Warranty would cover this, so it wouldn't cost you anything.
I have to question the diagnosis though. I've never seen or heard of a belt wearing out that fast, and I've never heard of one clicking when it wears out. You may be spending your dollars replacing belts only to take it to the dealer when you discover that's not the issue. Or doing the same in another 17,000 miles when the issue wears out your new belt.
I might add that the lower part of the engine had quite the amount of what looked like construction dirt/dust maybe even salt in it. Could that have damaged the belt(s)?
