When i start my truck up there is a pretty loud squeeking sound as if its comin from one of the belts or soemthin. It never goes away i just dont here it as much as when the truck is warmed up...Its been happening since day one and iv had it for about 6 months...any ideas or does anyone else have this. I hate to take it to the dealership for it.
Mine has been doing the same thing. Just started noticing it since it started to get cold. On my B3000 it was the belt tensioner/pulley had to be replaced (warranty)
Mine truck did it, started intermittently then went to do it on a regularly basis. I thought it was the tensioner/pulley on mine, but they replaced the serpentine belt under warranty and it has not chirped since, that was about 30,000 miles ago.
I was hopin it would just go away but i guess i need to get that replaced its just a pain in the butt to do it. And im about to go on a 500 mile trip with it, could any problems occur if i left it like this for a while.
Well my serpentine belt started to chirp and so I planned on replacing it the next oil change which would be in the next couple hundred miles...only problem was it shreaded and my pulley it went with it. Didn't make my trip home for Christmas nice. Now I am waiting to see what is the damage. Not sure if my water pump froze up and caused all of this or what? So the dealer well tell me the good news soon...like cover under warranty or not. Keep ya posted.
I always carry an extra belt because of that problem. Sometimes cold/moisture can set if to chirping as well (shop will usually hit it with belt dressing). When you do get it changed keep the old one as the backup. With it just chirping it shouldn't be a problem just check it to make sure it is not worn or torn. Good Luck
K made the trip no problems ill probably go to the dealer with it this next week...only thing is it doesnt always do it haha so of course when i go to the dealer it wont do it.
Well I ve got it out of the shop with a replacment belt and new pulley. I'll take some pics and show the world my problem...interesting. Since I was not at the shop to pick it up first hand I don't have all the details but I'll post it Monday when I go return the rent-a-car and get it...
