Squeaky Belt

My belt squeaks ALOT when it rains. Tried some belt conditioner and it only made it worse. Truck has almost 32000 miles on it and I'm pretty sure it's the original belt. I ordered a Goodyear Gatorback Belt from Autozone today and am curious how hard these are to put in?

Is it like the '01's where you just have to move the tensioner to get it on and off? (prays)

Same thing. If it is still under warranty there is a TSB to replace the belt with an updated version.

It's still under warranty. Would they use the Gatorbelt?

Sure, if you pay for the belt and installation, but not under warranty. The Ford belts are generally better than any aftermarket belts out there. Ive seen them last over 100K. But you have the occasional problem belt which they have supposedly resolved.

I had my belt on my 99 F150 last over 150,000km until the alternator seized and took out the belt...

I put a Gatorback Belt on my 04 and it is an awsome belt. You won't be disappointed.

To get the old belt off you use a 1/2" breaker bar in the front of the tentioner to release the pressure and then slip it off the alternator. I used a long pipe to provide some leverage and was able to do the job myself in around 15 minutes.

Being that it sounds super easy to install and that I have one on order already, I think I'll do it myself. =)

why? unless your running aftermarket pulleys and alternator, the OEM is good enough. Especially when your spending money out of pocket. I'd cancel the order if you can and let Ford fix it.

Cuz when I spoke to them a few weeks ago regarding the driveshaft TSB, they claimed a) that if they can't replicate it, they won't repair it, b) that even though it's under warranty, I still have to pay my deductible, which is $100. Gatorback belt was like $30 bucks.

what deductible? if you are still under the 3/36 warranty there is no deductible.

I bought my truck used last August and went with the premium warranty. I specifically asked them when I was there if there would be any charge for repairs made that were TSB related and that's what they told me.

Any time I need things done that the warranty covers, they said it's $100. The guy who sold me the warranty even explained it in the sense that if I have something that needs to be looked at, but it isn't annoying the hell out of me, it might be better to wait till a few other things need to be looked at, so for $100 I can have it all looked at, instead of $100 if I bring it in each time for each specific thing.

So it isnt under factory warranty, it is under ESP. Yes you have to pay your deductible each visit for covered repairs. This is why I paid 200.00 more for a zero deductible. After the second repair visit it will pay for itself and I dont have to wait for several covered items to fail each visit to make it a favorable situation.

The bumper to bumper 3 year/36K $0 deductible warranty should apply first and after that the Extended warranty with the $100 deductible takes over.
Since your only at 32K miles I'm assuming you are beyond the 36 months?
