I have searched the threads and can't find the answer I am looking for. I am in process of bypassing the air injection on my 96 F250 5.8. I am having problems getting a wrench or anything on the backside of the manifold to take that hose off. Any suggestions?
I'm not familiar with the back of a 96 head AIR set up. Could you take a pic. There are so many variations its hard to advise & no one who is is speaking.
On the back of my 94 5.8 was a block attacked to the cross pipe & held down by a single, don't know, 3/8ths? small head bolt. Maybe 11-12 MM (you never can tell what's there)
Under the block is a 5/8ths, 11 TPI (threads per inch or "coarse") hole you can plug with the appropriate size bolt, or aftermarket plug. Some use a copper washer.
It doesn't bolt to the back of the head. It bolts to the exhaust manifold, jus before it turns down and connects the the exhaust pipes. I requires an 1 1/4 wrench.
