I am cleaning the TB on a relative's 2007 F-150 5.4L. I have it removed and have cleaned it up for the most part. Man, was it dirty! Below the butterfly it was like this thick brown/black goo coating everything.
There is still a line of goo where the butterfly meets the body. Just spraying isn't getting it out of there. I need to wipe it but I read something that said you shouldn't move it manually or it will damage the servo motor. But then I found a how-to on another site that said to "move it back and forth".
I just did the TB on my 05 4.6L this morning using https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPNn...ature=youtu.be as a guide, he also has a companion video on the TB relearn process and I just gently moved the valve like he shows and used a soft towel and kids soft toothbrush and went at it.
Whole thing took under an hour including going to the AP store.
