There are also different gaskets. The only one that fits is the OEM type. It's rubber and fairly thick, with metal inserts. There is also a rubber gasket that is as thin as the cork. It works even worse than the cork one does.

@Mark, I just got off the phone with Xtreme diesel and while the kit does have a rubber filter in it, i think the dealer might be the best way to go if its needed.

We dropped the pan to take a look at the gasket and i'm glad we did, its in pretty bad shape. To follow your flushing instructions, should we put the pan back up and add the old fluid or can we junk that fluid and just switch the process up a little bit and use this as the first 6 quart flush?
