Manuel Tranny question

buddy of mine has a 91 f150 300 6cylinder with a 5 speed manuel...he twisted the drivshaft off in it. The code which i dont have dosent do him any good as it could be a Ford or Mazda tranny which both take a different length driveshaft.
any body have an idea or answer? I told him to just measure it but im not sure the exact points to measure from. thanks

Geez, what was he doing that he twisted the driveshaft!? The code that you don't have as in to tell him what he has based off the door sticker?

The Mazda trans code is "M" and there is no "Ford built" 5 speed that I'm aware of. The ZF (trans code "2") is a German transmission.

I have a friend with an '89 F-150 4X4 300 and ZF trans from the factory but I was told here that I was wrong and it couldn't have the ZF trans. I would say it most likely has a the M5OD-R2.

SUPER easy way to tell what it is.

Mazda 5 speeds had NO PTO block off plate

ZF5 has a PTO block off plate

Another is the reinforcement ribbing on the outside of the transmission.

Horizontal and vertical ribs

Diagonal ribs

That is a bad comparison since the small block zf5 looks different than diesel/big block one shown
