Quick question: If you don't order the chrome package on a Lariat trim or higher truck, are the exterior mirror caps automatically painted body color? Or does this have to be ordered? Based on the pics from the Denver show, it looks like an awful lot of Lariat+ trucks have the painted mirror caps if they don't have the chrome pack.

True, but I never saw an option in the order guide for the body-colored skull caps on the mirrors. Yet, look at some of the pics Josh has posted...plenty of Lariats with the body colored mirrors. Who knows. I'd prefer the body-colored myself.

Since these are "pre production" models I guess anything goes. I believe the caps are available through parts and a can of custom spray urethane could put you right there.

Yeah, I might order the chrome ones. Easier to clean off the bugs then the "textured" black plastic.
Just chatted with a Ford rep. My "new" order, after the dealer totally screwed up my last one, is "in processing." It was ordered as priority 10 / retail. I'm going to be a little disappointed when my original order arrives at the dealership, albeit not the way I ordered it.

We can keep our fingers crossed for a pleasant surprise in a couple of weeks. Good luck on a speedy order. And for me, finding out if the heavier front springs on the camper package adds a little more payload. Guess I am glad I didn't get the moon roof!! I might have to leave the camper at home. LOL
I looked into this a while back. According to the order guide, body color caps are only available in king ranch, but its confusing when you see pics of these lariats with them. the standard lariat comes with body colored handles, and its still a mystery if theyve decided to add the colored mirrors also. I think the chrome package had chrome handles, wheels and mirror caps.
On the f150's the standard lariat comes with colored handles and mirrors.
I guess if they come unpainted on the SD, you could always order caps from a king ranch color, but if you have a color that isnt available in KR, like ingot, then you would have to have them painted or get the chrome ones.

Thanks, good info.
Rasalas, how heavy is your camper? I'm guessing you're going to be totally fine, but I don't see how heavier front springs would up the payload. Maybe, but those springs are generally to hold a heavier plow.

Wet and fully prepared to go I believe I am at 3400 lbs. Once I get the new truck I plan on doing a weigh of each wheel and each axle to be sure I have balance. The published axle weights are probably the same regardless of the extra spring capability and mostly that should with the lean and stability. I am currently on an F250 with air bags in the rear and can handle it ok but I really need more, hence the F350. And I will probably add the torque lift overload assists which will bring the helper springs into service earlier. I hate sag but I do not want to go back to air lift again if I can help it since in order to really level out the truck it is off the helpers and fully on the air bags. The torque lifts may be just the ticket.

Well, my current truck is a 2016 F-350 Crew Cab 4x4 6.7L XLT short bed. It is rated for just under 3900lbs payload. Your new truck is in a slightly more payload friendly config (SuperCab LongBed) but is a Lariat which cuts into that a tad. Then there are the 350lbs less. I'd say you'll be rated at over 4200lbs...which should give you all the payload you need.

That's about where I am coming in at. And even when I take the next 6K boat to California I should be golden. Now my concern is the 5 inch higher box height. My shop is 12' door and I never worried about height before. All the chatter has me wondering. Not easy to measure accurately to the top of an AC and get it right without dragging out the tall step ladder. But then again, I probably have a couple of months to get around to it.

Couple of months seems optimistic, but I hope you're right!

This is true, lots of truck equipped different than what the order guide states.
One is all the King Ranch trucks with the Ultimate package should have been outfitted with the electric deploying running boards but almost none of them had it.
