Removing chrome from tow mirrors??
Hey y'all,
I just recently bought a used 2010 F250 Crew XLT and would like to remove the cheap chrome covers that came on the top portion of the factory towing mirrors. I went to pry them off thinking they were probably just stuck on with double sided tape, but it appears the top ledge of the cover partially goes under the lip of the mirror. Anyone ever pulled them off? Tips on safely removing them? Please tell me that there aren't 2 totally different versions of tow mirror. Thx!

There are 2 clip slots at the top behind the mirror glass. Use something like a flat blade screw driver to release the tabs and the skull caps (covers) will come off. You can try accessing them with out removing the mirror glass, but no guarantees.
Keep in mind that you will need to get some replacements that are paintable to replace them with or you will have one ugly mirror back side.
Part Numbers 7C3Z-17D742-A and 7C3Z-17D743-A are the replacments which are paint to match...
