Ok I did the stupid thing I know better than but I used the 3 jaw puller on a ford harmonic balancer. Ruined the outside pulled it right off. Now I have these questions. What determines which balancer. Can I use a crank and balancer from another same bore and does anyone rebound them or fix them.
Don't know what engine you have but for instance my 351 w is a 28 oz imbalance so the flexplate and balancer must also be 28 oz but you can take a balancer off of any 28 oz balanced engine they are not balanced to your specific engine . So you need to find what imbalance your engine has and find a matching balancer . This is for factory balances if you have a internally balanced or custom balanced then you will need the build info . I Hope this helps
Got ya. I thought you were talking Y-Blocks. As far as I know all vibration dampers for Y Blocks fit but there may be a difference between car & trucks.
This is for a 1979 ford 302 I have numbers on the balancer. What I thought was if you had like a 223 crank then your balancer went with that crank. Stroke and counter balance size being factors.
Lots of aftermarket balancers on the market now...I believe I bought the last few from Summit. One thing to be aware of if you go that route, the new solid balancers are not as deep as the OEM units and need a spacer to bring the crank pulley into proper alignment.
