I'm running the 7.3 super duty cooler on my 97 CCLB. In speaking with Brian at BTS that's what he recommends for OBS trucks with intercoolers. Loaded to the gills my trans has NEVER seen temps higher than 165 with that cooler setup. BTS trans, through radiator cooler, then through super duty trans cooler, then back to trans.
I bought mine without the cold-weather bypass/thermostat/whatever they call it. I've read reports of such devices hanging up and causing more problems than benefits. If cold weather becomes a problem, I'll just use a low-tech cardboard-over-the-cooler trick, which works every time without fail; as long as the operator is paying attention, that is.
Thanks everyone. Sorry for the late repose. Been on vacation to Hilton Head, SC with the family. I had done some reading since the last post and have read that most had more problems with than without in the summer. I'll order without.
