Ok Guys, I need your thoughts and advice. The vehicle is a 2004 ext. cab F350 dually 4x4 w/4.10 gears.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the engine. Runs great, deltas great, no complaints. The truck is approaching 150K miles. Nothing wrong, just think 150K is a good time to replace the oil cooler before I start having problems. Do you agree or disagree?
Now the real issue, what else should I do or not do since I'm in oil cooler deep? Turbo cleaning, upgrade? Blue spring upgrade will be done. Not bulletproofed - egr cooler delete? Screen replacement or other HPOP work?
Ficm will be removed, sent to Ed for work & Atlas 40 tune & ficm relay replacement. Flush & replace coolant before or after oil cooler replacement?
Any other thoughts, suggestions and/or advice will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the help and Have A Great 6.0 Day Everyday!
Why? If it ain't broke don't fix it. Just keep up with your maintaince. Don't go poking around and create a problem. I understand wanting to work on your truck, it's fun and enjoyable. Go tear into your lawnmower to satisfy the urge. ;-)
Ok Tideman, I'm also from and returning to Alabama (ROFLMAO). Did you replace the oil cooler, egr delete when you had a problem? What did it cost to utilize the Detroit True Trac 3.73 gears or is it OEM? Do you tow heavy (over 10K lbs.)?
Already rebuilt 2 zero turns (Scag & Grasshopper), push mower & 2 redmax weedeaters (LOL). Thanks & Have A Great Day. Oh yeah, we're gonna win it again, harder to do this year, but it will be done!!!
Got oil in coolant and deleted EGR while in there. Hadn't ever touched it till then. Detroit Tru Track was $1200.00 installed with my help. Probably would have been $900.00 without my help. No I don't tow on a regular basis. Do tow small kubota front end loader and 16' trailer some but that's about it. ROLL-TIDE !!!! What part of Alabama?
Dothan, got a few friends in and around the Birmingham area. Going to be heading that way the next 4-8 weeks to pick up a 1985 Izuzu diesel pick up that has been in storage for about 20 yrs. That'll keep me from screwing with my 6.0 ;-) for awhile.
Rather than tearing into it with no issues, how's about doing a good coolant flush, adding Fumoto valves, and adding a coolant filter.
Cut the coolant filter open when you change it, and look for sediment and crud. Keep watching your delta, and enjoy the truck.
If you do a coolant flush just use distilled water. Do not do a chemical flush. You don't have a problem, don't creat one. Don't fix what ain't broken.
