It looks strikingly similar to the OBDLink MX adapter only $65 cheaper. I know, I know - you get what you pay for. But, Look at it. It's the same thing on the outside and you don't see many manufacturers lending out their design to others. And it comes in different colors.
For me the question is...will it work with iOs? They do not specify that it does.
It wasn't the 56¢ that drew me in. They all seem to be made by Konnwei, but this one specifically states it has a BatterySaver sleep mode. Plus, I think I prefer the black one so as not to have it standing out to anyone poking their head where it doesn't belong. It also has some reviews that says it works with Forscan which I had planned on grabbing. I'll update as soon as it comes in.

In one of the comments on Whamazon, customer states his wouldn't power down and had to push the power button on the front or unplug it.

It's bluetooth, and no bluetooth device of this nature works with iOS. iOS means you need WiFi, which is a bit laggy. OBDLink MX WiFi would be my choice there. There is only one exception to this hard rule that I know of: The Lemur Monitors BlueDriver - which is not compatible with our 7.3L. They paid the special licensing to Bluetooth with iOS.
Yeah, I saw that. One guy said his caught fire . I'm not scared.
I'm a big fan of multi-use devices - an OBDII adapter/lighter sounds pretty handy.
For you dice rollers out there, feel free to "take one for the team" and see if a Vgate iCar3 will work with our protocol. That's the bugger about some of these guys - they don't list the protocols they work with.
Recently bought a 2003 Expedition due to previous car dying and lack of funds prevented buying newer. I have several problems that I think having a decent scanner may help.
1. I have the apparently very common 'door ajar' problem and I need to determine which door is at fault. Unfortunately the interior lights are always on and do not time out. I have to turn them off with the roller switch. So I can't use them as troubleshooting aids. Will a scanner show door sensors?
2. I have 'check AdvTrac' message and the ABS light on all the time. Some of the 'fixes' I've read have not reset these. Will a scanner help me diagnose this problem?
If a scanner can help me with these, which would you recommend for a moderately astute techie? I have a PC laptop, Samsung tablet and iPhone 6. So any OS is available to me.
I know AE can connect to any module and give me the status on everything in the truck that has a sensor tied to the OBDII. I haven't tried everything with FORScan yet, but I have been told it will hook up to the GEM and the ABS modules, the same as AE. Once you have a Bluetooth for PC/android - it's free to try FORScan on your PC.
