New Head Unit

Mine is on the way out and I'm thinking of putting in a double din unit. I'm looking for one the has controls for an mp3 player on the front(not Ipod), usb or sd card input, touch screen and rearview camera, navigation is not necessary but would get one with it if the price was right.

Any suggestions? And would like to keep it around 500-600 dollars.

I think the best place to look is Crutchfield. Just search for DD units without putting your truck info in and you will find alot of options. Or you could do a search in this forum and see what other people have used in the past. Roy

I was against the double din touch screen units until got one and man they are great! Mine has an SD card slot, USB input, backup camera option, you can put a picture as the background, and can support rear screens. I can play dvds as well. It is a pioneer and was on sale for $241, the P3200DVD model. I bought mine on amazon and you can add navigation later if needed. I didn't need Nav so it is a heck of a deal!

Oh, almost forgot, it required a little bit of sanding of the inner lip on the dash, but the install kit covers it up, and you can't notice it anyway. If you want pics I have a few!

Here's mine. Its a Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD. Got it form Amazon back in July for about $300, which IMO was a steal. It fits great.

What install kit did you get? Did it come with the wiring harness for your truck?

Here are some pics of my AVH3200

Backup camera

Custom mount

I got the camera on amazon too for really cheap and have it set up to turn on with a switch and a signal sense for when the truck is in reverse. I didn't think it would be as useful, but it is nice to have.

I have a clarion DD with all the bells and wistles and i LOVE it!!!

It has a USB that I have in my glove box and the aux. jack on the front. Navigation is built in and works great. I havnt got a back up camera yet. The sound quality is great on cd usb and dvd. The tuner is a little weak.

The AVH-3200 series are great head units for the money. It's a huge upgrade over factory. The installation can be a bit complex but not so bad if you take your time and don't try to shortcut.
