1 DIN HU Recommendations
I have an '02 excursion, and I am planning on giving her a sound system upgrade. I'm still in the planning stages, and figured I'd reach out to you guys for some help /advice.
Right now I'm trying to figure out what HU to buy. In doing research, my eyes all but caved in!!! SO many options.
Here is what I'm looking for :
1. Single Din
2. 6 Channel preamp (I will get a 4 channel amp and a sub)
3. Bluetooth
4. USB
To go a little more in depth. I have an iPhone, and would like to pair it via Bluetooth to the head unit. I have seen plenty that allow for Pandora streaming to the HU via USB cable to it, but none mention Bluetooth playback WITH song/artist info on the HU. I would strongly prefer not to have to plug in the iPhone to the HU every time.
Now, this may be pushing it, but if there are any single din HU that have a pop out touch screen for controls, that would be a plus! but not a requirement.
Hoping you guys can steer me in the right direction!
Looking forward!!

I was gifted a similar one. I wasn't impressed at first but I've grown to like it. Mine came with a remote microphone that I put up by the visor. Great for phone calls and also for voice controls. I have Android so I can say "OK Google, next track" and stuff like that. So basically I don't have to touch the radio much and have no need for extra controls. The one I linked to says it works with Apple voice control so you should be good to go with that too. Voice control will ruin you.
On/off. Input select. Skip buttons. Radio presets. And volume control. All I need. If you want more I suggest maybe looking at a unit with a flip out touch screen. I like Bluetooth. Stops when I get out and picks up when I get back in. Everybody says Pandora but mine plays Slacker, my MP3's, and Spotify just the same. Spotify doesn't show the title and artist last I checked for reason. The others do.
I tried the USB and the input jack. Because they were there. As far as I'm concerned Bluetooth makes them both pointless and stupid. A waste of faceplate space.
Not saying buy that particular one, just pointing out some features to look for. I don't think that particular Pioneer has all the outputs you want. Not a bad price on it though.
Oh and I'd skip any GPS feature in a head unit. I use GPS on my phone which interrupts whatever music is playing with the voice directions. And does it really well.
Here's the Boss unit:
Boss Audio BV9967B - 1-DIN In-Dash DVD/CD Receiver with 7"" LCD & Built-in Bluetooth - Walmart.com
But if you're stuck on that Pioneer unit you've picked out then at least buy it at Crutchfield.com where it's about fifty dollars cheaper than WalMart.
