I had one on my stock turbo when I had the shop install my 38R and up pipes they said it's not really worth it to put it on the 38R but would do so if I wanted. I just left it on the stock turbo. I did have to adjust the one on the 38R though it would come open at 23psi I believe.
When I bought the Bighead the shop I bought it from said I gained 5psi with it not really sure how they tested that but they put it on for $20 so I just had them do it. I don't trust that diesel shop that much though either but. Hard to find a good Diesel shop here in Springtukey Oregon
Just by doing a simple mod to the stock wastegate, I gained 4 pounds PSI with the stock tune (22 PSI) - so that's nothing miraculous. Once I added a chip, big intake, and 4" exhaust - I got even more boost with the stock injectors, turbo, HPOP, and wastegate:
The aftermarket wastegate you describe does not in any way blow my hair back.

I wasn't sure if you were being facetious or not, so I typed Springtukey Oregon into Google Earth. Yup. Facetious. Are you referring to Springfield/Eugene - home of the Ducks? I almost forgot I had this, but the BEST map in my signature may be of help.
Yup Springfield Born and raised. Pretty much only have 2 shops around here that specialize in diesel that I know of Oregon Fuel Injection and Dunks Performance wich I stay away from.
