Hmmm, you might want to call AE and ask them. Your vehicle doesn't even have a GEM module, it has an SJB which is the next generation combo of the GEM functions and fusebox in one.
Do you get a Bxxxx DTC, by chance? Most likely, on an Escape, an intermittent door, liftgate, rear glass, or hood (if equipped) switch would the most likely culprit for false triggers.

AE calls it a GEM. When I pull the DTCs with AE, it lists U1900 and U0073 under the GEM module. My understanding from what I could find is that those always come up when hooked up to a OBDII scanner.
I monitored all of the Door Status PIDs and they go on and off as they are supposed to. Could still be an intermittent issue though. I have found a couple old thread on various forums where people say to look at the last 8 trigger events because they get stored in the GEM. That's where I went looking and the PIDs are there and available. I just can't find anyone that actually lists out what the trigger events are.
