Oil pouring out

Helped my buddy rebuild his 7.3
Got the motor back in and when started it, it dumped all the oil out in about 20 seconds. So we dropped the tranny and put a new rear main seal in. Filled the oil and it gets dumped in 20 seconds again. Anybody ever have this problem or any ideas as to where it could be coming from? I really don't want to pull that motor again

The rear mains on these are rarely ever the issue. I would look at the HPOP or a turbo pedestal leak.

Was the top of the engine covered in oil? Where did it look like the oil was coming from? What exactly was rebuilt in the motor?

Did you check and see if the rail plugs were reinstalled in the back of the heads?

Edit: Clem beat me to it!

If one of those plugs was missing, it would never start. So, for real, how much oil did it lose in what amount of time? Was it really all the oil, literally in 20 seconds?

Loose oil rail plugs, you would of lost all the oil with out starting the truck if they were missing.

Are there oil plugs behind the flywheel / flexplate for the engine main bearing gallery?

How many quarts of oil did it take to bring the level back up to full?

That's to much oil and there's only one thing that can cause all the engine to leak out that fast, high pressure oil.

Loose Oil plug, end of head... like 1 1/2 " round... or maybe blown oil ring in high pressure line to rear on passenger side... but I can't imagine not getting some oil in valley with it leaking. Same with pedestal... valley would have oil in it.

Hope you didn't blow all that out on the Wife's pretty clean white concrete driveway... omg..
