'08 E350 Console Compatibility

Hey there,
Does anyone have any experience swapping out consoles? I'd really like a better console for my 08 E-350 SuperDuty. Looking for something with a door so I can hide some stuff since I don't have a glove box.

Will this console (part #3C2Z16045A36AAA) fit my truck?

Thanks

As far as I know, all 1997 to 2014 consoles will fit all 1997-2014 doghouses (because the doghouse is the same in all of them). There are three "*****" in an upside down triangle shape that the console slides down onto, and then below the bottom **** a "clip" that keeps it from riding up. There is usually some sort of door or opening in the back of the console near the bottom so you can reach that clip to release it.

The console you show is one I upgraded to (I have a 1998 E-350). It's from around 2003-2005 I think. It's the largest one and covers the most of the floor (which may or may not matter to you - some folks prefer the ones that leave the bottom of the doghouse open so they can slide their feet past to get to the back). The ones that came after that one (the newest ones) are a good balance of capacity plus foot room, if you decide you prefer that.

They used to be fairly cheap (eBay, Craigslist) as takeouts from various upfitters, etc. (like say $40 with free shipping). I've noticed that now they are a LOT more expensive, now that the regular vans are not being made. I'd still buy one now though.

PS: Just noticed you said you want one with a door. I think the one you show (which is the one I have) is the only one with a large "doored" compartment (which is probably why you chose it). BTW, that ashtray pops out and then there is another open cubby where it used to be.

Thanks for the info, time to start scouring scrap yards.
