Appreciate comments: Yes, found when I take short cuts it usually turns out bad; basically came down to taking steps for a possibly better outcome, or risk having to remove the head. Intend checking torque on couple occasions over next 2-3 week, perhaps prevent the other shoe from droppings

Sorry, forgot we were talking about a modern engine. The last time I did this was on my 69 Mustang, which had some dwell angle. This meant the spark starts right when the points opened when you turned the cap CW, but if you did it turning the cap CCW, it would be way too early. But all moot now.
