Ideas etc. Looking for something to kinda guide me through as it'll be a first for me.
I recently acquired my dad's 03 ranger fx4 Ext cab 4x4 4.0l 5spd for free.
He's not using it any more.
The box is in ok shape inside but it's all but rusted off the frame.
It's got a leaking gas line right off the top of the tank somewhere also.
I was thinking I'd tear the box off it, repair the gas line and
Do any other maintenance and repairs needed while the box is off the truck then clean and paint the frame.
Once that's all done I'd like to build a flatbed to haul my sled and boat around on.
I was originally looking for an older diesel truck but so far haven't had any luck finding one.
Other ideas I had was a back rack/cab gaurd up front with front and rear facing flood/spot lamps.
And possible an over the cab or stilted boat rack over the flatbed for my 12 ft John boat.
Looking to do the work myself preferably I have access to welding equipment etc..
I would love an aluminum one too I'm just hesitant on prefab prices. There not cheap, and I'm no good with a mig nor have I welded on aluminum before.
I was talking with my buddy about it yesterday, he works for a mining supply company as a sales manager and he's gonna run it by his boss to see if they can make me one for cost + labor no markup that I can advertise for them since it's not there usual product but they have the fab shop to do it.
